MCC Commencement graduatesApproximately 2,000 students expected to earn degrees, certificates in 2019-2020

With the global COVID-19 pandemic projected to continue into the months ahead, Monroe Community College will postpone its 57th annual Commencement ceremony to early December, when a traditional, in-person celebration will be held.

All students who fulfill program requirements and apply for graduation will become MCC graduates in May and receive official degrees and certificates in the mail during the summer. Approximately 2,000 students are expected to be in the class of 2020.

The decision to delay commencement is heart-wrenching but necessary to ensure the well-being and safety of our students, their families, faculty, staff, and the Greater Rochester community. I fully understand and share our students' disappointment over the change in plans,” said MCC Interim President Dr. Katherine Douglas. “However, our students’ hard work, resilience and achievements at MCC will not go unrecognized. I am committed to seeing our students experience the distinctive tradition of walking across the stage in December and celebrating with them this significant milestone in their lives. As we adjust to new realities, I am inspired by our campus community’s strength, generosity, and dedication to our students.”

Questions related to commencement may be sent to studentservices@monroecc.edu. Students with questions about their graduation status may contact graduation@monroecc.edu.

Additional details on the December ceremony and on related class of 2020 end-of-academic year events that will be held virtually will be forthcoming.
