Description
MCC’s Multi-Manufacturer Automotive(MMA) prepares students for rewarding careers as Automotive Service Technicians. This program allows students to work with various makes of vehicles, developing a broader understanding of the diverse automotive market. Students will receive classroom instruction from experienced instructors, participate in extensive hands-on lab activities, and gain real world experience to create a comprehensive automotive education. They will earn money while completing their degree by participating in required student work experiences. Students will work with the latest technology, tools and equipment and have opportunities to earn industry certifications.
A minimum grade of C is necessary in all required automotive classes for continued matriculation in the program.
Students must purchase a required list of tools, and will need to transport them to and from school for lab sessions. Student discounts are available.
Upon completion:
• Students will have an opportunity to earn ASE Certifications
• Students will gain real world automotive experience
• Students will have an opportunity to obtain a New York State Inspector License
• Students will have an opportunity to acquire an EPA 609 (Air Conditioning) Certification
There are two scheduling options for students entering to earn the MMA A.A.S. degree: • The first option is a full-time two-year program, alternating college instruction with on-the-job training. • The second option is a part-time three-year program, allowing technicians to work full-time during the day and attend classes in the evening.


Program Learning Outcomes

4. Demonstrate competency in OSHA safety practices used within the automotive service industry.
5. Perform current vehicle engine service to NATEF standards.
6. Perform current vehicle brake service to NATEF standards.
7. Perform current vehicle electrical and electronic systems service to NATEF standards.
8. Perform current vehicle automatic transmission and transaxle service to NATEF standards.
9. Perform current vehicle manual drivetrain and axle systems service to NATEF standards. 4 of 38
10. Perform current vehicle suspension and steering systems service to NATEF standards.
11. Perform current vehicle heating and air conditioning systems service to NATEF standards.
12. Perform current vehicle engine performance systems service to NATEF standards.
13. Utilize appropriate systems necessary for success within the automotive service industry to obtain industry certifications.


Requirements for Program Entrance
ENG 101 ready and Elementary Algebra with Geometry (or Math 098 currently registered in or higher). A student entering this program must possess a valid driver’s license.
