NY State & Local Retirement System: Important Message to Members

While we are all taking the recommended precautions to slow the spread of the virus, it is important to use this time to plan for the worst and hope for the best. The New York State and Local Retirement System (also known as ERS) has reached out to benefits administrators with a reminder of how employees can best provide support for their families in the event that the worst happens and the employee falls ill and succumbs to the disease.

The Retirement System has rules regarding death benefits and an employee's status with the System, as a retiree or as an active employee, which dictates the amount of the death benefit available to beneficiaries.
