Happening Today: Speed Read Research - Learn How to Tackle Academic Articles with Confidence

Please share with students:

The Library’s new Open Research Labs series continues today at the Brighton Campus Library. These short, relaxed sessions start with a 15-minute mini-lesson, followed by open lab time for one-on-one help with any part of the research process.

Today’s session, Speed Read Research, led by Staci Tucker, Information Literacy & AI Librarian, teaches a simple, step-by-step method to read academic articles quickly and confidently. Students will learn how to recognize the structure of scholarly articles and pull out the key pieces so they can decide fast whether a source is useful for their paper or project.

When: Today, 12 to 12:50 PM
Where: Brighton Campus Library, Room 2-423

This fall’s series is a pilot focused on in-person sessions at Brighton as the Library gathers feedback and builds momentum for future hybrid and Downtown offerings.

No sign-up needed. Students can just stop by, bring their topic, and get one-on-one help.

Next week’s session, The Citation Game with Dax Parasnis-Samar, Instructional Technologies Librarian, turns citations into clues. In this hands-on lesson, students will decode mystery citations to track down real sources using library search tools and online sleuthing skills.
