Opioid overdoses claim more than 130 lives every day in the U.S., and are now the leading cause of death among Americans under the age of 50. Monroe County is no stranger to this problem. Between 2016 and 2018, nearly 300 people died of opioid overdoes in Monroe County. On April 25th, from 1230-145pm in Monroe B on the Brighton Campus, The Democracy Commitment at MCC, the Politicos, the MCC Honors Institute, and the Institute for Humanities at MCC are jointly sponsoring a campus deliberation titled A Deliberative Dialogue on America's Opioid Epidemic. The conversation will focus on three options: treatment for all, enforcement, and individual choice.
