What does it mean to understand a concept? In this conversation, we will review some of the theoretical frameworks that underpin educational research on conceptual understanding and reasoning before discussing the implications for what we do in the classroom. While much of the theory is taken from STEM education research, no prior content knowledge is needed, and everyone is welcome! Bring your ideas of what conceptual understanding and reasoning in your field looks like for an even richer discussion.
