TCC: Fall Conversation #3--"Where and When We Enter: Black Women Faculty and the Politics of Care"

Back to all events

12:00 pm - 01:00 pm

Please join professors Melany J. Silas, Ph.D. (HED), and Tokeya C. Graham, MA, ABD (ENG/PHL), as they explore the gendered and racialized elements of the faculty-student dynamic. How do Black women faculty engage with “politics of care” while confronting the challenges of racism and sexism? How do we disrupt historical inequities while seeking power in the college community? This presentation will focus on self-preservation including radical self-care/self-love, mental health, and wellness.

“Caring for myself is not self-indulgence. It is self-preservation, and that is an act of political warfare.” ~ Audre Lorde

All faculty and staff are welcome!
