World Refugee Day Celebrated on June 20

World Refugee Day was first celebrated in 2001 to recognize the 50th anniversary of the 1951 Convention Relating to the Status of Refugees. It is now celebrated every year on June 20 to recognize the contributions and resilience of refugee communities around the world as well as understand why refugee communities require protection.
