COVID-19 Testing Requirement Update

SUNY responded to feedback from campus leaders regarding the significant challenges posed by the weekly COVID-19 testing requirement.

Starting Monday, Feb. 15, MCC students and employees who come to campus less regularly (i.e., not every week) are no longer required to test weekly for COVID-19.

Going forward, you must participate in pooled (saliva) testing or submit test results from another provider to MCC's Office of Student Rights and Responsibilities (studentrights@monroecc.edu) only during those weeks you are actually on campus.

As a result,

  • Testing will be more convenient and less stressful.
  • MCC Pooled Testing Center staff and volunteers will be able to conserve their valuable energy.
  • Campus population density will decrease on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, our current testing days.

If you take in-person courses or come to campus weekly, then you must test weekly. If you choose to continue to test weekly despite being on campus less frequently, you are welcomed to do so.

Thank you for studying with us and for your cooperation.

Questions? Contact covid19response@monroecc.edu.

Please note: Once you receive the COVID-19 vaccination, you must continue to test and follow MCC safety protocols such as wearing face coverings, frequently washing hands, and socially distancing in order to access campus buildings. The vaccine does not make you immune from spreading COVID-19 and does not impact testing results.
