Advanced Patrol Tactics Course

Program Announcement

The Monroe County Public Safety Training Facility (PSTF), in partnership with the Rochester Police Department, will be holding an Advanced Patrol Tactics Course. This course provides experienced patrol officers with advanced skills and tactics while addressing high-risk situations in both shooting and non-shooting situations. This course will focus on safety priorities and minimizing risk given the myriad circumstances patrol officers face in today’s society. Students can expect intensive, hands-on training and should attend this course with the capability and motivation to participate in a stressful environment, both physically and mentally. Attendees initially report to 1099 Jay Street, Rochester, New York on the first day of the course.

Students who successfully complete this course will receive two (2) credits from Monroe Community College.

Session Dates

October 19 through October 23, 2026, 8 am to 4pm

Prerequisites

• Full and part-time, active duty NYS certified police officer
• Minimum three (3) years patrol-related experience
• DCJS Patrol Rifle certification or equivalent

Required Attire and/or Equipment

Attire (dress code):

• Battle Dress Uniform (BDU)-style pant,
• Training shirt (Polo preferred)
• Duty-style boots
• Weather-contingent clothing

Equipment:

• Department-issued semi-automatic pistol, holster and belt gear
  • Three (3) magazines
  • 1,000 rounds ammunition
• Department-issued Non-Lethal Training (NLT) Handgun (ex. Glock 17T)
  • Two (2) NLT handgun magazines
  • 250 rounds NLT ammunition
• Department-issued patrol rifle
  • Three (3) magazines
  • 1,000 rounds ammunition
• Department-issued Patrol Rifle Non-Lethal Training Conversion Kit
  • Two (2) NLT rifle magazines
  • 250 rounds NLT ammunition (Recommended: 5.56MM Reduced Velocity Round (RVR))
• Body armor
• Wrap-around eye protection
• Hearing protection
• Groin protection (optional)
• Mouth guard (optional)
• Marked patrol vehicle
• Flash drive (min. 32 GB)

Instructional Areas

Graduation Requirements

• 90% attendance (policy set by Monroe Community College)
• Satisfactory completion and progression through practical skills-based exercises

Course Tuition and Fees

• Tuition: $446.00 (per person)
• Estimated Student Fees: $119.50 (Student fees may vary each semester)
• Agencies will be billed directly

Note: Monroe Community College may find it necessary to revise tuition and fees and reserves the right to do so.

Reservations

Please complete the online Law Enforcement Program Course Reservation Form prior to September 25, 2026. Reservations submitted after this date will be considered based on seating availability. Submitting a reservation form does not guarantee admittance to a course. Confirmation notices will be emailed to the individual who submits/approves the reservation request approximately two weeks prior to the class. Please remember to check your junk/spam folder.
