Industry & Community Connections

Built in partnership with Monroe County, New York State, and private industry leaders, the new Sydor Optics Advanced Technology Center is a $70 million investment in Rochester’s workforce. The new facility is 110,000 square feet, more than double the size of the former ATC, providing expanded lab space, cutting-edge equipment, and modern classrooms. The project was made possible through strong public and private partnerships. Monroe County and New York State each contributed approximately $34.8 million, with Monroe County's investment including a $3.5 million federal grant. Additional support came from philanthropic and industry partners, including Sydor Optics, whose long-standing investment in MCC has exceeded $3 million. In recognition of that enduring partnership, the facility was named the Sydor Optics Advanced Technology Center. Other notable $1 million philanthropic investments include gifts from the Rochester Automobile Dealers Association and local dealerships, the Gene Haas Foundation, and John and Barbara Bruning.
