The Northeast Fire Training Center (NFTC) at Monroe Community College announces the following available training dates for Aircraft Rescue and Firefighting.
All advertised courses meet current Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) guidelines
but can be amended to meet Canadian Aviation Regulations (CAR) for an additional cost.
Please Note: We will no longer be accepting NYS Certificates of Residence (COR) for FPT-135, FPT-136,
& FPT-137. We will continue to accept NYS Certificates of Residence (COR) for FPT-130
& FPT-230.
This specialized aircraft firefighting course provides aircraft firefighters the skills and knowledge required by NFPA 1003 Airport FireFighter. The classroom presentations cover airport and aircraft familiarization, apparatus operation, airport infrastructures, chemistry of fire, foam systems, Incident Management System (IMS), and tactical considerations in fire suppression operations. The hands-on training consists of apparatus operation, rescue and evacuation techniques, application of firefighting foams and the safe use of firefighting tools and appliances during live fire scenarios.

The ARFF Basic course offers our students the ability to take the Pro Board Certification exam. Upon successful completion of the course, students are eligible to take the Pro Board test for Airport Firefighter. It is recommended to have read the study guide and text prior to attending the course if you are interested in Pro Board Certification.
The PSTF charges a $120.00 fee per student if they choose to take the National Exam which covers the cost for materials/instructors.

This course provides firefighters with the skills and knowledge associated with specialized aircraft fires. These fires could include cockpit, galley, passenger cabin, lavatory, baggage compartment, wheel and brake, engine and local spill type fires. This course utilizes both classroom and live fire training scenarios, and also exceeds FAR Part 139 annual requirements for live fire training.

This course combines the essentials of both large fuel spill fires and specialized aircraft emergencies into one session. Students will increase their skills and confidence through classroom instruction and by utilizing our 2 Aircraft Rescue and Firefighting vehicles during live-fire scenarios. This course exceeds FAR Part 139 annual requirements for Index A through E live fire training.

This course is designed for personnel who are new or need to quickly meet 14 CFR part 139.319 (i) (3) to start work or those who missed their annual live fire training and need to be recertified. Two instructors work with the individual on turret and hand line operations utilizing our Specialized Aircraft Fire Trainer. This class can be scheduled for a single student.

This 4 day course is for firefighters who want to take their Aircraft Firefighting skills to a higher level. In-depth familiarity of aircraft systems and emergency mitigation techniques provide you with the skills required to meet the demands of the increasingly complex aviation environment. Hands-on training sessions challenge the Aircraft Firefighter to put the knowledge gained in this course and apply it to real world scenarios. This is a mentally and physically demanding course.
