Cabbages & Kings Literary and Art Magazine

Cabbages & Kings is MCC’s award‑winning, student‑run literary and art magazine, showcasing poetry, prose, plays, photography, and more. Since 1966, it’s been a creative space where students meet weekly to share their work, spark ideas, and build community. If you want to express yourself and be part of something creative, you’re welcome here! 

Share Your Ideas: Student Writing Contests

MCC’s Annual English Writing Contest invites students to submit a thesis‑driven research essay, a creative nonfiction piece, an analytical or interpretive essay about a work of literature, or a philosophy essay built around a strong central argument. Winners receive tuition‑credit prizes and are published in Cabbages & Kings.

Associate of Arts

This program builds your reading, writing, and critical‑thinking skills while preparing you to transfer into a four‑year English or related degree. In addition to studying literature, you’ll take writing-intensive courses and have the opportunity to take elective classes in philosophy, history, political science, and more. 

Length

2 years / 60 to 63 credit hours
Students typically complete this program in 4 semesters of full time study.
