Discover the principles that drive motion, energy, and the universe.

Physics explains how the world works—from motion and energy to electricity and the universe itself. In MCC’s Physics A.S. program, you’ll combine rigorous coursework with hands‑on lab experience to explore fundamental scientific principles. Designed for transfer, this program prepares you for continued study in physics, engineering, or related fields while building the analytical and problem‑solving skills employers value.

What You’ll Learn

In our Physics program, you’ll learn how to:

  • Apply the fundamental laws of physics and mathematics to solve complex problems
  • Design and conduct experiments to test scientific concepts
  • Analyze and interpret experimental data using modern tools
  • Use computers for data acquisition, modeling, and simulation
  • Understand topics such as motion, energy, electricity, waves, and modern physics
  • Apply scientific reasoning to real‑world challenges
  • Communicate scientific ideas clearly in written and verbal formats
  • Build strong critical thinking and analytical skills

Where Can Physics Take You?

A background in physics opens the door to many advanced and high‑impact fields. Graduates often continue into areas such as engineering (mechanical, electrical, aerospace, and more), astronomy and astrophysics, quantum technology and computing, materials science and advanced manufacturing, meteorology and environmental science, data analysis and technology, education, research, and scientific development.

Need help exploring your options? Our Career Counselors are here to help. We’ll talk about your goals and what training and education are needed. We can also help with researching salaries, wages, and projected job growth.

Where You’ll Learn

MCC’s physics labs give you hands-on experience exploring how the physical world works. Using modern data acquisition systems and laboratory equipment, you’ll design experiments, collect and analyze data, and test scientific ideas in real time. These spaces are built to support active learning—so you’re not just studying concepts, you’re investigating them through experimentation and discovery.

Ready to Apply?

Applying to MCC is free, with no college essay or test scores required.
