Assistant Professor Bill Brewer, Health and Physical Education, was quoted in the March 19 Democrat and Chronicle article “Give trainer a workout: Asking questions, seeking references put exercise pros through their paces.” The article encourages consumers to not assume all personal trainers are equally qualified.
According to the article, Brewer “teaches the 40-hour, one-week Cooper Institute training sessions … to anyone who wants certification as a personal trainer.” Brewer is a certified exercise specialist by the American College of Sports Medicine who says “continuing education is important because exercise knowledge continues to evolve.”
