MCC Daily Tribune

Thank you

Thank you to all the members of our MCC family who made last week’s inauguration such a marvelous event. It was something I’ll always remember and forever cherish. So many worked diligently, creatively, and went above and beyond in their efforts, demonstrating the best of who we are at MCC. Our tri-chairs, Dr. Calvin Gantt, Vice President, Diversity, Equity and Belonging Executive Director, Downtown Campus, Dr. Nayda Pares-Kane, Chairperson of the Anthropology, History, Political Science, & Sociology Department and President, MCC Faculty Senate, Dolores Pasto-Ziobro, Institutional Compliance and Internal Auditor, Rosanna Yule Director of Community Relations (retired), subcommittee members, faculty, staff and students helped create a wonderful day, not only for me and my family, but for our community.

Putting together a successful event of this size, requires the skills and talents of numerous individuals, both behind the scenes and out in front, and their efforts should make us all proud, because these individuals are our colleagues, friends and students. I am grateful for all the support and well wishes I received in person and by email, from members of our community and from others throughout our state.

As I sat on the dais and listened to the speakers, including the NYS Lt. Governor Antonio Delgado and my own mother, I reflected on historic nature of the ceremony, as only the sixth person to be inaugurated president of MCC and the first person of color. I was honored by their words and the trust that has been bestowed on me.

As we look to the future, I will always hold dear the memories of this inauguration, and the efforts of so many who helped demonstrate that at MCC, we are “Together as One”.
