TCC (Brighton): Continue the Conversation on Trauma
After the April Conversation with Tim Weider, we knew that we had just scratched the surface of this topic. Professor Weider has graciously agreed to facilitate another conversation on June 12 from 1-2:30. Please join him in the Teaching and Creativity Center, 12-201.
When Things Fall Apart: Trauma and Other Challenges in Students' Lives
Guest facilitator Tim Weider (AHPS) will offer us a look into the cascading traumas relating to poverty. Rochester has some of the highest concentrations of poverty in the US. Research indicates that individuals living in impoverished conditions are significantly impacted psycho-biologically by those environments. This could lead to behavior patterns (and other aspects of the affective domain) that impact their success in pursuing career goals. Many of our MCC students experience these challenges. Learn together how we can understand, heal, and support our students as they work through such challenges in our classrooms and on our campus.
Look for Trib announcements about a fall Faculty Inquiry Group on this topic as well.
