Build Sustainability into Your Life - Laundry Products
Washing laundry is something that none of us can escape. Many laundry detergents use chemicals that can be problematic since they can cause irritation or inflammation for people with sensitive skin. Many are non-biodegradable, which is harmful to the environment. Some have been banned in New York since they exceed New York State’s legal limit by containing more than 3PPM of 1,4-Dioxane, a potential carcinogen. Look for eco-friendly, sustainable alternatives.
- Look for eco-labels such as EPA’s Safer Choice Standard or EWG’s Verified mark.
- Try laundry sheets that end the need for large plastic jugs to hold liquid detergents.
- Use tablets that are stored in refillable tins and are essentially plastic-free detergent pods.
