The Tutoring and Academic Assistance Center Bootcamp Series Launches Its Final Fall Workshop on YouTube!

Please feel free to include in your course shells and/or share out with all students:

How Can a Bootcamp Benefit Students?

Anne Devine, a Lead Academic Coach in the TAAC, has worked in collaboration with Renee Dimino to develop dynamic content that aligns with COS curriculum, and regardless of whether students are enrolled in COS, this Bootcamp has something for all students as it was developed to help students acclimate to college life with tips and strategies for a successful semester.

Although we are getting close to the end of the term, there is still time for students to learn and apply strategies to get through those remaining exams and projects. That said, we are excited to announce the release of our final Bootcamp Workshop, "Study Strategies:  How to Study Effectively." Part II of this workshop:"What is my Learning Style?"  is now live on our YouTube Channel

Bootcamp Topics and Schedule:

I. Introduction to Microsoft Word - This Workshop is Live!  The first workshop of this series is a basic introduction to Word. Students will learn how to save a document, format a paper to APA and MLA standards, and learn different skills to help them navigate through Word.

II. Time Management: Preparing for a Successful Semester

(This workshop has been released in three parts and all workshops are now live! )

  • Part 1: October 10th, Time Management Self-Assessment
  • Part 2: October 17th, Creating Weekly Schedules and Planning Ahead
  • Part 3: October 24th, Looking at Your Syllabi Throughout the Semester

III. Study Strategies:  How to Study Effectively

(This workshop will be released in two parts and both workshops are live!)

  • Part 1: November 7th, What is the Study Cycle? Students will learn how to conduct study sessions and plan their study time.
  • Part 2: November 14th, What is my Learning Style? Students can discover what type of learner they are by taking a learning style self-assessment. Students will learn about different study tools and tips, based on their learning style.

For questions about the Bootcamp, please email Sara Revello (srevello@monroecc.edu)

For additional support with developing successful learning tools and study habits, we welcome students to book an appointment with an Academic Coach.
