On Friday March 1, 2013 we had over 25 students at the (Natural Science Learning Center) NSEC interested in participating in the Bridges To Baccalaureate program at Binghamton University. Each year MCC sends 7-9 scholars to participate in research projects funded by the National Science Foundation. Many of these participants are recruited by top universities for their 4 year degree. We will share with you the class of 2013 list as the candidates are selected. Last year's students Gerald Noble, Clementine Namba, Ignatius Ukatu, Mathew Hernandez, and Rolando Villanueva, all have or will graduate in May.
CSTEP is funded through a legislative grant by the New York State Education Department and has been at MCC for over 25 years. The mission of CSTEP is to increase the numbers of individuals who are underrepresented or economically disadvantaged to pursue careers in Science, Technology, Engineering, Math (STEM), health and licensed professions. MCC CSTEP students have gone on to pursue Bachelor, Master’s and Doctoral degrees in these fields. Many have also gone directly to a CSTEP-target field upon graduation from MCC.
