MCC students will benefit from new scholarships and learning opportunities thanks to the 108 golfers who participated in the Monroe Community College Foundation’s 26th annual Scholarship Open on July 12 at Monroe Golf Club. The tournament netted $77,448, marking an 8 percent increase over last year and a new tournament record.
Following the scramble tournament, tournament co-chair Jack Cannon, chief executive officer, Cannon Industries, Inc. and director, MCC Foundation Board, acknowledged the 36 tournament sponsors, including six new participating companies.
Rochester Broadway Theatre League President Don Jeffries, an MCC alumnus, led the event’s live scholarship call. Nineteen new scholarships, named for corporate and individual donors, were established at the event. In addition, 10 scholarships were made possible by underwriting commitments made prior to the tournament.
