Women of Excellence Interest Meeting @ Downtown Campus 10/22

Join us for a “Meet & Greet Informational Session” on Thursday, October 20th at 3pm- 4:00pm in the PRISM Multicultural Center on the 5th floor of the Downtown Campus.

Presenting the 2023 Women of Color Leadership Initiative

The Women of Excellence (WOE) is back again looking for students who want to make a difference. The goal for the Women of Excellence program is to create a socially just and inclusive community, where women of color at MCC can bond, interact with women from all backgrounds to form friendships, a sense of belonging and gain leadership skills. The Women of Excellence Leadership Program reflects our belief in inclusion—supporting efforts to increase access to equal opportunity in organizations because it is the right thing to do. In this program, a student and an exceptional group of peers—women of color who want to make a difference—will gain insight, skills, and relationships that will help them realize their leadership potential and contribute more fully to the college and in the Rochester community.

The objectives of the program:

  • Establish a holistic support program dedicated to welcoming and retaining underrepresented women minority students at Monroe Community College.
  • Strengthen the pipeline to higher education to enable many more women of color to attend college and most of all stay until graduation
  • Increase admission and graduation rates and help student access employment opportunities
  • Empower women of color to be self-advocates in their own journey to success
  • Create a sense of belonging by creating a safe space for dialogue
  • Build connections to faculty and staff, that will enhance their overall experience academically, socially and personally

Students will have the opportunity to:

  • Receive a scholarship of $500.00 and a Certificate of Completion after two semesters
