MCC and the Solar Eclipse

After much consideration, the College has made the decision to close all campuses on Monday, April 8, 2024.

All classes will be cancelled and non-essential personnel should remain home. These employees will receive their regular pay for this day and do not need to utilize their own paid time off to cover.

We do encourage our students and employees to take advantage of this epic event by safely observing the eclipse without the worry and stress associated with heavy crowds and traffic congestions. To learn about the eclipse, safety tips and more visit Monroe County, NY - 2024 Solar Eclipse.

Please note, however, our campus is an emergency assembly location for Monroe County. In the event the County initiates the emergency plan on April 8, 2024, it is critical we have the required personnel on campus, ready to support. As a result, we require essential personnel to report on Monday, April 8, 2024. Specific employees identified as essential, who are required to report will be confirmed by your Department Head within the next few days to ensure these employees can plan accordingly. Essential employees who are required to report or are assigned as stand-by, will be paid in accordance with the applicable collective bargaining agreement.

We appreciate everyone’s patience so we could take the time to collaborate with diverse groups throughout the campus and enable the best decision for MCC students and employees.
