It appears that the puzzle pieces are finally falling into place in regards to our rescheduled power outage. The ice storm negated over a year's worth of preparation which we have now had to reconstruct in the last week.
Here are the current details, barring any unforeseen complications:
Computer Services begin shutdown process:
3 PM, Saturday, April 26
Power shut down:
6 PM, Saturday, April 26
Power restoration and computer service begin restoration process:
12 PM,. Sunday, April 27
Computer services restored:
6 PM, Sunday, April 27
The two week delay in this power shut down process has also resulted in a two week delay in our ability to start campus air conditioners. Fortunately, we do not need air conditioning at the moment but it would have been available by now if the outage had occurred as planned. As a result of the delay in the power outage, we would expect to be able to run the air conditioners beginning May 1st. If we have some unusually hot weather between now and then, we'll keep as much ventilation going as we can.
Finally, we always end announcements like this by thanking the college community for its patience and cooperation. We always mean it, but never more than this time. MANY people, too many to name, have been very flexible and helpful and understanding in this situation and we truly appreciate it. It's an honor to be a part of this community.
