TCC: Fall Conversation #2--What's Right with You? A Continued Conversation on Tuesday, October 18

Please join the TCC on Tuesday, October 18, 2022, 12:30-1:30 PM, as we continue our Conversations series around this year’s theme: Ditching Deficit-Based Pedagogy: Leveraging Student Assets.

Do you ever find yourself at a loss when trying to assess and address student responses to learning opportunities or the learning environment? You are not alone. Please join your colleagues for a supportive conversation around developmental trauma, its effects on learning, and how we can build on that awareness while shifting from a deficit-based approach that focuses on what’s wrong with someone to an asset-based approach—a healing centered approach—that focuses instead on what is right with someone.

This is a hybrid event, so participants can join in person (in 12-201 on the Brighton campus) or via Zoom. Zoom information is attached, as well as in the Events Calendar listing.

**Please take note of the start time, as it is adjusted for a TR teaching schedule.**

All MCC faculty and staff are welcome!

This event is designed to meet the following goals of the Teaching and Creativity Center's programming:

  • Goal 2:  Promote evidence-based, high-impact, innovative course design and teaching strategies that improve student outcomes
  • Goal 3: Facilitate faculty inquiry into the study of teaching & learning with an equity lens

Questions about this event? Please reach out to Amy Burtner, one of the TCC's faculty leads.

For questions about the TCC, please contact interim co-coordinators Amanda Colosimo and Terry Shamblin
