Save for Success, a partnership between MCC, ESL Federal Credit Union and PathStone Corporation, is creating access to higher education for low-income students. Democrat and Chronicle reporter Jim Goodman highlighted the program in his July 8 article,"Program assists MCC students.”
On July 13, the Democrat and Chronicle also published MCC President Anne Kress's essay "A new way to help MCC students."
Save for Success provides students with an 8-to-1 matching education grant, as well as financial and life skills counseling. The program is funded by a $200,000 Assets for Independence (AFI) grant from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. The grant was secured with the help of the MCC Foundation and its supporters. The program will support 113 students this year. Students are encouraged to apply by August 8 at www.saveforsuccess.org.
