MCC Alumn now at Quantum Computing Laboratory

Julia McMaster began her engineering career attending MCC and completing a dual AS degree in Engineering Science & Physics and Mathematics. She then transferred to the  University of Buffalo to finish her Bachelor degree in Mechanical Engineering. Now she is in Boulder, Colorado working as an Engineer in the Quantum Computing group at ColdQuanta company.  She assists in solving  cross-disciplinary optical and mechanical challenges in order to maintain system performance at an atomic level.

Below is a  quote from Julia McMaster:

“The Engineering Science and Physics department at MCC offers top-notch education for technical fields. My time there prepared me for further academic studies, as well taught me real-world skills. Lectures and labs both helped to give me a grasp on how theoretical science applies to actual engineering problems. I still use my MCC knowledge everyday when tackling new challenges as an engineer in R&D.”

Attached are pictures of her at the laser lab. It is usually hidden by the enclosure- hanging above- which uses special insulating foam and copper to create an anechoic chamber that insulates from acoustic, radio-frequency, and electromagnetic waves.
