MCC is Using EdSights AI to Help Support Student Success

As a recommended strategy in the Strategic Enrollment Management (SEM) Plan, and funded through the SUNY Enrollment grant, MCC has partnered with EdSights to use artificial intelligence (AI) to engage and support students with an SMS chatbot called Tiberius.

EdSights uses a proactive retention framework that is research-based, supporting student success through:

  • Academic Engagement
  • Financial Distress
  • Wellness
  • Engagement

Tiberius will begin reaching out to current students on Wednesday, April 24, 2024. The AI chatbot will check in once in a while to see how things are going, and text helpful resources. If students have questions about MCC, they can also save Tiberius in their contacts and text 24/7/365. Edsights data shows significant improvement in persistence and retention for colleges that utilize this tool to connect with students. Edsights chatbot will provide MCC with actionable data to improve or expand the  supports and services students need to be successful. 

Every month Tiberius will randomly select a student who engages with the AI chatbot and send them a $20 Amazon gift card.

We nudged students to let them know that Tiberius will begin reaching out Wednesday, but please help spread the word and encourage students to update their phone number in myMCC by going to the Student Home tile, My Account tile, then Person Information under Student Records.
