Reaching Towards the UR-Designation
MCC's URSICA Committee is looking for faculty who employ research-oriented pedagogy in your classrooms and who might be curious about pursuing MCC's UR-designation.
MCC's UR-designation identifies courses that incorporate Undergraduate Research, Scholarly Inquiry, and/or Creative Activity by providing an active, inquiry-based learning environment and by emphasizing the language and processes of research/creative activity in the classroom. The purpose of a UR-designation is to promote a culture in which students are encouraged to explore, enter, and advance current dialogues in academic disciplines. UR-designated courses--like all HIPs-designated courses at MCC--support student learning, enhance professional satisfaction, strengthen program development, and advance the College's goals.
Visit URSICA's webpage: monroecc.edu/depts/undergraduate-research/ and scroll around to learn more about the UR-designation. Please also feel free to email Maria Brandt at mbrandt@monroecc.edu. We'd love to talk more with you about how we can work together to spread this kind of applied learning across our campus!
