The 5 Days of Gradebook: Day 3

Clean-up!

Welcome to Day 3 of the 5 days of Brightspace gradebook! This week we will run a series of simple tasks to check your gradebook and make sure it is functioning properly before the end of the semester. Today's topic is a series of clean-up tips using the More Actions menu, Bulk Edit, and Associations

  1. Navigate to Grade Center and then Grades in your course. Click on the Manage Grades tab.
  2. You can use the More Actions button to Reorder or delete columns. 
  3. You can use the Bulk Edit option to quickly change the titles of columns, and check your points/categories. 
  4. Check your item associations to make sure every assignment, quiz, discussion, etc. is connected to the grade items that you are expecting. Similarly, if you are not using columns and can't remove them from the gradebook, make sure to first remove the association, and then you can delete the column.  If you are not using Brightspace to collect these items, then you may not have an association on the Manage Grades page. 
  5. The most important thing is to make sure your points/categories are balanced and match your CIS.
