Monroe Community College's Educational Opportunity Program (EOP) has received a $141,500 state grant for operating expenses for the 2002-2003 academic year.
A support service program for educationally and financially disadvantaged students, EOP provides tutorial assistance, counseling and other support services for 283 students. It also funds a five-week, non-credit summer program for incoming freshmen to get them academically prepared for college.
Approximately $58,000 of the total award is direct aid that pays students a small stipend to help meet living expenses.
