News from the June MCC Board of Trustees Meeting

The MCC Board of Trustees met on Monday, June 12, 2023, and took the following actions:

  1. Adopted the consent agenda effective June 12, 2023
  2. Accepted operating disbursements totaling $12,356,063.20 for the month of March 2023, and $7,207,389.72 for the month of April 2023, subject to final audit. (A detailed listing is available upon request.)
  3. Accepted the Interim Financial Reports as of March 31, and April 2023
  4. Authorized Purchase of items over $20,000 as listed for the months of March and April 2023
  5. Approved the appointment of Dr. Candice Baldwin as Chief of Staff. This annual appointment will begin on June 12, 2023 and continue through August 31, 2023. The salary for the period ending August 31, 2023 is $140,500, prorated for the period of this appointment.
  6. Approved leave for professional advancement in accordance with Article 13 of the contractual agreement between Monroe Community College and the Faculty Association for the following: • Sally Dingee, Advisement and Transfer Services, Fall 2023 Semester
  7. Approved Flexible Work Policy
  8. Approved Consent Calendar
  9. Approved the Schedule of Tuition and Fees for the fiscal year September 1, 2023 through August 31, 2024
  10. Approved the Operating Budget for the fiscal year September 1, 2023 through August 31, 2024 in the amount of $111,500,000
  11. Approved a resolution expressing appreciation for her leadership and service to My Linh Le, the Student Trustee of the Monroe Community College Board of Trustees during the 2022-23 academic year
  12. Approved a resolution to enter executive session

The Board heard presentations from:

  • Student Testimonial by Valeria Krokhmalyuk
  • Student Success Dashboard with Key Performance Indicator (KPI) Measurements William Dixon, Director, Research
  • NYS Sexual Harassment Prevention Model Policy, Dr. Calvin Gantt, Vice President, Diversity, Equity and Belonging and Executive Director, Downtown Campus
  • Dr. DeAnna R. Burt-Nanna provided the President’s Update, which included inviting Chief of Staff, Dr. Candice Baldwin, to introduce herself and make brief remarks, an overview of SUNY Chancellor King’s visit to MCC, MCC’s attendance at the Chancellor’s State of SUNY address, thanking the Board of Trustees and government relations consultant Andres Pazmino for their advocacy on behalf of MCC in the recent New York State Budget negotiations, SUNY’s launch of a new marketing plan, MCC’s participation in last month’s working session for the  Aspen Institute and the Community College Research Center (CCRC) Unlocking Opportunity: The Post-Graduation Success and Equity Network, and remembrances of  two recently passed MCC colleagues, Matthew Hachee, associate professor in the English/Philosophy Department and  Rochelle D. Watson-Payne, associate professor in the ESOL/Transitional Studies Department
  •  Dr. Robin Cole Jr., Economic & Workforce Development & Career Technical Education (EDIWS) on EDIWS activities, Dr. Calvin Gantt, Vice President, Diversity, Equity and Belonging and Executive Director, Downtown Campus on division activities; Greg Hinton, CFO/Vice President, on Administrative Services activities; Dr. Margaret Semmer, Provost & Vice President on Academic Service activities; Gretchen Wood, Vice President, Institutional Advancement and Executive Director, MCC Foundation, on Institutional Advancement activities and Foundation activities on behalf  Board of Directors Chair Lori Van Dusen, including the upcoming 39th  Annual Scholarship Open on June 26th
  • Shared Governance representatives including Student Government Association President Paula Barlow, Faculty Senate President Nadya Pares-Kane, Dr. Burt-Nanna representing Administration, and Support Staff Planning Council provided a written report
  • Faculty Association President Beth Gizzi provided an update; CSEA leaders did not provide an update.
