College Update on COVID-19 Testing Efforts & Cases

New cases of COVID-19 are starting to climb nationwide--467 new cases were reported in Monroe County over the weekend.

Monroe County Executive Adam Bello and County Public Health Director Dr. Michael Mendoza implore us to stay vigilant--take extra-precautionary measures, continue mask wearing, hand washing and social distancing.

To date, MCC has conducted 2,133 pooled tests. Last week, the Monroe County Department of Public Health (MCDPH) confirmed 1 positive case among MCC students and employees. This individual was identified through pooled testing. Contact tracing is complete and people who need to quarantine or isolate have been notified. According to MCC Health Services:

  • 0 students are isolating on campus
  • 1 student is isolating off campus
  • 29 students are in mandatory quarantine (on and off campus)
  • 15 students are in precautionary quarantine

At this time, there is not a need to cancel classes or activities. If the MCDPH indicates that additional steps need to be taken, we will update you immediately. MCC is unable to legally disclose any further details or personal identifiable information about these students and employees per federal privacy laws.

Our next COVID-19 pooled testing session will be held tomorrow 9 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Tuesday, November 10 in the Warshof Conference Center, Flynn Campus Center (Monroe A/B). Please call the hotline at (585) 292-8310 to make an appointment.

Additional testing sessions will be held on Tuesday, November 17 and Wednesday, November 18 from 9:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. prior to Thanksgiving Recess. Walk-ins welcomed; no appointments are necessary.

Thank you for your ongoing cooperation.
