MCC Student Wins National Writing Competition

Congratulations to MCC student Pam Howe! After winning four MCC student writing accolades this spring semester including: the 2011 Langlois First Place Award for her short fiction “A Jar Fulla Butterflies”; the 2011 Cloos-Susskind Second Place Award for her poem “may december romance. us”; the 2011 Sixth Act Award for her one act play “Disclosure”; and the 2011 Shaw Award for her essay “Styx and Stones,” I’m very pleased to announce that her creative writing has won national acclaim.

Please join me in celebrating our student writer Pam Howe for winning not one, but two, national student literary awards in the 25th Annual League for Innovation in Community Colleges Student Literary Competition. Her short fiction “A Jar Fulla Butterflies” won first place in the national competition, while her play “Disclosure” won third place in the national competition. A publication of winning entries will be available in the fall.

On behalf of the Student Writing Awards Committee, the English/Philosophy Department, and the MCC community, congratulations Pam Howe!
