MCC Men's Head Soccer Coach Nelson Cupello is being inducted into the National
Junior College Athletic Association Hall of Fame on November 20th in Tyler,
Texas. The event will take place the same time as the NJCAA Men's Division I
soccer tournament.
Cupello is the first alumnus and athlete from MCC to earn this honor. Cupello
accumulated a hand full of accolades as a former standout forward at MCC. He
still holds records for most goals in a game (7), most goals in a season (31),
and most career goals with (55). In his sophomore year at MCC he was named a
first team all-region and first team All-American. Leading the Tribunes that
year as the team captain, he also was named Offensive MVP of the Region III
Tournament and earned a spot on the all tournament team at the national
tournament where his team lost in the finals to Florissant Valley Community
College. Cupello's overall record in his two years as a Tribune is 33-5-3.
