The Monroe Community College Foundation's 13th annual Salute to Excellence will take place Wednesday evening, Dec. 11, 2002, at the Riverside Convention Center. I hope you will join us as we salute Tom Mooney, president of the Greater Rochester Metro Chamber of Commerce for his efforts to promote economic development within Rochester and Monroe County and his involvement in Building on Success: The Capital Campaign for Monroe Community College.
Distinguished guests such as Anne Mulcahy, chairman and chief executive officer of Xerox; and James Gleason, chairman of the Board of Directors of Gleason Corporation; will join Eastman Kodak's Senior Vice President Dr. James Stoffel, chief technical officer and director of research and development, and Vice President Essie Calhoun, director, multicultural marketing, community relations and corporate contributions. These important community partners have confirmed their plans to attend and are eager show their support of MCC and its students.
The evening will also mark the 10th anniversary of the MCC Alumni Hall of Fame. MCC's own Betty Smith '82 will join Dennis Alongi '69, Teresa Coykendall '86 and Jeff Sluman '77 as this year's induction class. In the tradition of the Hall of Fame, our alumni represent what is best about Monroe Community College through their professional and volunteer accomplishments.
Your presence at the Salute to Excellence dinner is important to us and affirms the role of Monroe Community College as a source for inspiration for the next generation of leaders in our community.
Invitations to the event will be mailed shortly. The MCC Foundation has arranged for specially priced tickets for the College family ($75). To receive the special rate for MCC faculty/staff, please indicate you are a member of the faculty/staff on the invitation's reply card to receive the discounted rate.
If you want to make your reservation in the meantime, feel free to e-mail Brian Hendrick, associate director, MCC Foundation, at bhendrick@monroecc.edu with your reservation information. Please also indicate if you are willing to put together a table of eight of your friends and colleagues.
I look forward to celebrating the success of our alumni with you on Dec. 11.
President R. Thomas Flynn
