Global Education and International Services, in collaboration with the Teaching and Creativity Center, is sponsoring a Faculty Reading Study Group this semester. Join us Thursdays from 2:00 – 3:15 p.m. in the TCC on these dates – 1/29, 2/12, 2/26, 3/5, 3/19.
HIGHLIGHTS of this group:
1. We will use a selection of articles, essays and book chapters to explore a range of themes related to developing global awareness and intercultural competence in the classroom.
2. Because we are offering short readings, it is easy to participate one time or several!
3. This program is open to full-time and adjunct faculty, as well as staff.
TOPICS we will discuss include:
Jan 29: What is global education (see attached readings for the first session on 1/29/15)
Feb 12: What is cultural identity?
Feb 26: Who are our “international” students at MCC? How do their backgrounds differ and what do they bring to our classrooms?
Mar 5: How can we engage international students effectively in the classroom and curriculum?
Mar 19: What do we mean by “internationalizing” the curriculum?
** Contact Study Group Facilitators Don Beech (x2345) or Amanda Colosimo (x2421) for more information.
