Call for Student Plays

Once again, The Sixth Act is calling for MCC students to submit their plays to our annual Student Playwriting Competition. Please Help Us Spread the Word!

List of Submission Guidelines:

  • Playwright must be an MCC student during the Fall 2023 or Spring 2024 semester.
  • All submissions must be one-act stage plays, maximum 3000 words.
  • All submissions must include a separate title page with author’s name, M-number, home address, campus address, e-mail address, and phone number.
  • Author’s name should appear nowhere on the script itself.
  • All submissions must be original and unpublished in any but college publications.
  • Submission Deadline is Friday, March 22, 2024.

About the Winners:

  • Winning scripts will receive fully staged readings at a special Awards Ceremony on May 9, 2024.
  • Winning playwrights will receive cash awards of $100 each.
  • One winning play also will be submitted to a nationwide competition sponsored by the League of Innovation in Community Colleges.
  • Winners will be notified by April 12, 2024.
