Courtney Ter Velde Presents on Relationship between Learning Theories and Educational Design

On Wednesday, February 28, from 10 to 10:50 a.m., Interior Designer and MCC alum Courtney Ter Velde will deliver a dynamic presentation that explores the relationship between learning theories and educational design, highlighting how educational philosophies can shape physical learning environments. According to Ter Velde, "We will review some prominent learning theories such as Gardner's multiple intelligences and Maslow's hierarchy of needs and their impact on the architecture and layout of a learning environment including the social, emotional, and physical influences of classroom layout, technology integration, and collaborative spaces." In doing so, Ter Velde hopes attendees will gain a greater understanding of how pedagogical principles intersect with physical spaces, ultimately shaping the educational experiences of students and educators.

The presentation, which will take place in Building 12, room 205, is sponsored by MCC's Creative Arts Committee in conjunction with the Office of Student Life and Leadership. It is free and open to all members of the College Community.
