2023 MCC/Excellus Medical Insurance Cards

As of January 2nd, 2023, Excellus has been unable to release your new medical insurance card for the 2023 plan year. The College and Lawley were advised on December 30th that insurance cards were being released to participants that day.  Unfortunately, we were notified on January 2nd that they had caught an internal error on the cards that prevented their release.  Excellus is addressing this and will be sending out cards as quickly as possible.

Excellus assures the College that your coverage is active, that your subscriber ID number has not changed and recommends that you continue to use your 2022 insurance card until you receive your new 2023 card.  

If you are told your coverage is not active, please do not delay seeking care or filling prescriptions.  In these instances ask if the provider will hold off on any collection of payment and resubmit the claim over the next couple of days as Excellus hopes to correct this problem quickly.  Any claim errors on Excellus’ part will be adjudicated correctly after their system has been corrected.  Most providers are typically very understanding this time of year.  In addition, please advise Human Resources via email at hr@monroecc.edu if you have been told you do not have active coverage.

The College and Lawley have worked with Excellus throughout the months of November and December to transition to the self-funded platform. Though our funding arrangement has changed, our group number, subscriber IDs, and pharmacy plan information are without any changes.  As of December 16th, Excellus confirmed receipt of all of the necessary information to complete the transition to a self-funded plan prior to 1/1/23.  

The College will continue to provide information as we receive it until Excellus has resolved their system issues.
