The Veterans Reading and Discussion will provide an opportunity to explore the challenges and opportunities veterans face while transitioning from active duty to civilian life. The starting point for each discussion is a short piece of literature from a new anthology called "Standing Down: From Warrior to Civilian.” The themes which will be discussed are combat, caretaking, homecoming, and honor and memorializing. This initiative will provide a forum for veterans (students and staff) to reflect on their service experience and support those currently in transition. Interested students, faculty and staff are encouraged to participate!
A grant from the New York Council for the Humanities makes this series possible and we are excited to offer it this spring! This program has already taken place at Veterans Outreach Centers and has received support from the Wounded Warrior Project and the Veterans Upward Bound program.
