2023 Innovation of the Year Award

Established over 35 years ago the League’s Innovation of the Year Awards were devised as a way to recognize significant innovations at Board and Alliance member colleges (https://www.league.org/about/membership/member-list). These innovations reflect significant achievements and the spirit of innovation and experimentation upon which the League was founded. The award honors faculty, staff, and administrators at member colleges who have created and implemented innovative programs, practices, partnerships, policies, and activities that improve the institution’s ability to serve students and the community.

This year, The Executive Leadership Team reviewed three proposals submitted by MCC faculty and staff for the League of Innovations, Innovation of the Year Award. Although we were only able to submit one proposal to represent the college, we want to recognize all the teams that submitted proposals for our consideration:

  • “Slate” – submitted by Christine Accorso, Julie Slate, Sean Baker, Katy Urbanik, Dough Miller, Kassandra Amo
  • “Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) Verification Request” – submitted by Christine Accorso, Rick Sadwick and Jacques Plumart

The winner of the 2023 Innovation of the Year Award is Data Champion Training and “You Aare a Data Person Book Club” submitted by William Dixon, Kimberley Collins, Elina Belyablya, and Amanda Rampe-Eggleston

The League will honor the award recipients during the 2024 Innovations Conference, which will be held in the spring. Recipients will receive a commemorative pin, an Innovation of the Year Award certificate and a copy of the League Awards Program.

Please join me in recognizing all of these employees who contributed to the Innovation of the Year Award.
