EDIWS Diversity Equity & Inclusion Conference Registration Deadline Is February 8m - Registration Link

Please join us for MCC's EDIWS Diversity Equity & Inclusion (DEI) Conference, "Intentional DEI and Accountability in Workforce Development and Technical Careers," on Friday, February 10, from 8:30am to 1:30pm.

This conference will invite you to more closely examine what makes Workforce Development and Career Technical Training inclusive and to explore how to operationalize a commitment to equity and racial justice to better serve students and industry partners. The presentations will focus on access, diversity, equity and inclusion within CTE for-credit and Workforce Development non-credit programs.

The keynote speaker is Mr. Montez King, Mr. King is the Executive Director of NIMS, the nationally recognized organization responsible for developing national standards and competency-based credentials in manufacturing trades. Mr. King is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the NIMS operation including administration, programs, and strategic planning.

As technology continues to emerge, new occupational duties will continue to be added and existing duties will continue to change. The pace of technology is moving faster than an average individual can learn and retain. How can educators and employers address and meet the needs of this new paradigm while aiming to reduce disparities in academic and career outcomes for students of color enrolled in credit-bearing online college CTE programs? How can we build knowledge and develop tools to address these systemic inequities? A new framework for developing, organizing, and executing training is now required to adapt to the fast pace of change with more inclusive and equitable CTE programs.

In a series of presentations, Mr. King will lead us through honest reflection and discovery in developing a critical consciousness to disrupt stereotyping and misconception.

Register by 4pm on Wednesday, February 8! Registration for the DEI professional development event online.

This event will be live-streamed on YouTube on February 10th.
