Updates: Student role view changes

The students have spoken, and we are listening. In the fall semester we set out to gather student feedback on the new portal. We held a student focus group facilitated by the Title III external evaluator group Center for Government Research (CGR), we monitored student requests and issues, and we partnered with our students in the classroom through the Lean Six Sigma project in our business administration program.

The feedback received was fabulous. By and large, the students like the new design, appreciate the simplicity in navigation, and transitioned easily to the new portal. Items they requested: fewer tiles, flexibility to create their own tiles, flexibility to create their own background, and opportunities to arrange their view.

Fewer Tiles: Students asked- We listened! We are redesigned the student view to capture suggestions and input from our students. Rather than displaying a number of direct tiles on the home screen you will now see groupings of functions listed under more generalized tiles. Changes will be live by January!

Flexibility on the view: With myMCC, all users can arrange and move tiles wherever works best for their needs (videos available on Portal Help tile in all views). The product does not allow individual color or background changes.

New Features: Alumni and Parent/Support roles

In addition to the roles for Students, Employees, and Guest, we are adding roles/views specifically designed for both our Alumni and our students' Parents/Support person(s). These new roles will be viewable in January 2023. Please reach out to mccapplied@monroecc.edu if you have ideas for tiles could be added to these roles to further enhance the user experience!

Reminders: Update communications

Now that Blackboard has been sunset the only portal access is through our new myMCC.monroecc.edu. Be sure to review all sources of communication that give users directions on access to your services and forms. Double-check your areas webpages, pre-programed emails, and form letters to ensure users are being directed through the new myMCC.monroecc.edu portal. Each square with an icon on the portal is called a tile. The most popular access points are via the Student Home, Brightspace, Campus Resources, Academic Plan, Career Plan, or the Financial Plan tiles.

Don’t forget to direct students to the Schedule Appts tile for all of their appointment scheduling needs. If students schedule appointments for services in your area and it is not included on this tile, please contact mccapplied@monroecc.edu to be added!
