Come to GeoFest on Saturday, Sept. 18

The Geosciences Department of MCC and the New York Geographic Alliance are joining forces to host GeoFest 2010 at MCC on the Brighton Campus on Saturday September 18, 2010, from 8:45 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. This is a celebration of geography. We are inviting teachers, pre-teachers, college professors, and anyone else who loves geography to join us at GeoFest.

We will begin the day with a welcome from President Anne Kress, followed by workshops on a variety of geographic topics. Our main theme this year is "Fresh Water" but there will be other choices as well. After the workshops participants can board the
Mary Jemison for a luncheon cruise on the Genesee River and the Erie Canal.

GeoFest is our "kick-off" for the World Canals Conference, which begins in Rochester on Sunday, September 19. Canal enthusiasts from all over the world will be coming to the Flower City for this event. We are inviting our international visitors to join us at GeoFest.

Registration for GeoFest is now open. For more information and to download a registration form, go to the New York Geographic Alliance website -
