Curriculum Processing - Important Update

After a year of having implemented and using Kuali for Curriculum processing, the Curriculum and Program Development Office has completed an assessment in collaboration with the Faculty Senate Curriculum committee, Computing, Advising, and other stakeholders. The result is that we will return to our former system that has been running in parallel to Kuali during the past year.

In addition to issues in the faculty and administrative processing, the student facing catalog and distribution requirements could not be customized and the delivered structure would not have served students or advisors well.

As we head into a year of increased curriculum activity as a result of SUNY General Education revisions, we determined it would be wise to make the decision now and concentrate our efforts on one curriculum processing system for the coming year.

I want to recognize the commitment and significant work that went into implementing Kuali.  We are committed to leveraging lessons learned from our Kuali experience and incorporate aspects into our own MCC system. Our MCC Curriculum system is based on HCL Domino technology that continues to receive annual updates. HCL Domino is utilized for an increasing number of web applications and employee forms at MCC post-pandemic.

Work has already begun on adjusting the current course form to include the new SUNY General Education attributes. Faculty that have proposals in draft form in Kuali can submit them and they will be honored.

Please send me any questions you may have.
