Congratulations to MCC Culinary student, Tajineaque Scott, for winning Rochester's Student Chef-of-the-Year!

Rochester area culinary students came together on Monday, March 11th, to compete for the title of the American Culinary Federation Rochester chapter (ACFR) Student-Chef-of-the Year. The competing participants were from the Monroe Community College Culinary Arts program, the Food Link Culinary Career Fellowship program and the Wayne-Finger Lakes BOCES Culinary program. Each student had 1-hour 30-minutes to prepare a restaurant quality meal, working with a market basket of produce and starches, and a mystery protein that was revealed just before cooking started. Tajineaque’s winning dish featured Chicken Chasseur with a red wine sauce, sautéed broccoli, and roasted garlic bacon mashed potatoes. Tajineaque received a ACFR student membership, medallion, plaque, chef’s knife, and will be celebrated at the annual Rochester Chef-of-the-Year dinner in April, alongside MCC Chef Chris Januzzi, who won the Rochester area Chef-of-the-Year title in November.
