Early Care and Education Community Forum on Campus Today

Awareness of early childhood development, especially the 0-3 years development window, is growing among Rochester’s child care professionals, parents and educators. The Rochester Parent Network (RPN), a community collaboration administered by Monroe Community College, will welcome approximately 100 early care and education professionals to a community forum held in the Campus Center (Monroe A/B) today from 8:30 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.

The Early Care and Education Community Forum will address key developmental stages in babies, the effects of violence on children, primary care giving and reading infant cues. The afternoon professional development segment will feature break-out work groups and a review of ways to engage our community.

Gambi White-Tennant, an expert in Early Head Start and Zero to Three programs, will serve as keynote speaker in the morning session (8:30 a.m. – noon). Her presentation is entitled “Developmentally Appropriate Infant/Toddler Care.”

In addition to the RPN and MCC, this event is hosted by Children’s Institute, Safe Start Initiative, and the Early Childhood Development Initiative.

The RPN provides parents and caregivers with “support when your baby needs you most.” For more information about RPN services, please visit HYPERLINK "https://www.rochesterparentnetwork.org" www.rochesterparentnetwork.org or contact Mary Louise Musler at x1541. And remember…call 292-BABY to find out what resources are available to you as a parent and/or to speak with a nurse about your baby’s health needs.
