Diane Navarro, LeRoy V. Good Library, shared her experience and insight related to hosting “speechcraft” (public speaking) seminars at the Toastmasters Leadership Institute held at Rochester Institute of Technology on January 10, 2015. Her presentation was part of a biannual training opportunity for club officers in Toastmaster’s District 65, a district that includes clubs in Buffalo, Rochester, Syracuse and Elmira.
Speechcrafts are four- to 6-week seminars that are used to introduce prospective members to the Toastmasters program and build club membership. The MCC Toastmasters Club evolved from a speechcraft seminar hosted by Ilene Benz (VaPA) and Betty Saunders (VaPA) in 2003. Most recently, Diane organized and hosted a speechcraft seminar for the League of Women Voters in Brighton.
