Dorothy M. Whittingham, mother of Elizabeth Whittingham (English/Philosophy), passed away at the beginning of the January. She was a wonderful person and an accomplished nurse educator who dedicated 36 years to higher education and worked tirelessly for women's rights and with underprivileged teens to help them acquire the science and math skills needed to enter college and study nursing or other health-related fields. She had a unique ability to direct people into meaningful careers, even when they questioned their own abilities, and she inspired many people to become nurses and teachers.
